The best gamma exposure (GEX) tools in 2026

Dealer gamma is one of the biggest hidden forces on intraday price — it's why the tape pins some days and runs others. Here are the tools that map it in 2026, what each does, and who it's for. We build one of them, honestly ranked among the rest.

Gamma exposure (GEX) maps where options dealers are positioned, and dealer hedging is one of the biggest hidden forces on intraday price. Positive net GEX means dealers dampen moves (the tape pins and mean-reverts); negative GEX means they amplify them (moves extend). These are the tools that map it in 2026, what each does, and who it's for. We build one of them.

#1NoVo
$129 / $209 mo

Reads the live dealer gamma — net GEX, the gamma-flip line, call/put walls, gravity, expected move — on SPY, QQQ and IWM, draws it on a scalping chart, and grades every session and publishes it, sample size on every rate. Purpose-built for 0DTE. Every plan also includes Dr. NoVo, the AI market analyst, which answers off the live map and cites what it used, and every read is scored, so asking "how often has a setup like this worked" returns a base rate with its sample size rather than an opinion.

Best for: 0DTE index scalpers who want the gamma map drawn on the tape, not a morning snapshot. (Index ETFs only.)

#2SpotGamma
$89–$299 mo

The established GEX standard with the broadest coverage — its Equity Hub maps dealer gamma on thousands of individual stocks, plus the TRACE heatmap and HIRO real-time hedging flow. Analytics only.

Best for: Dealer gamma across a wide universe of single-name stocks.

#3OptionsDepth
~$199–$249 mo

Minute-by-minute intraday dealer-gamma positioning with 3D maps, focused on SPX and VIX. The most granular intraday depth in this list. Analytics only.

Best for: Intraday SPX traders who want maximum dealer-positioning granularity.

#4MenthorQ
~$129 mo

Gamma and key levels for SPX, QQQ, VIX and futures, pushed onto TradingView / TrendSpider so the GEX levels sit on the charts you already trade. Analytics only.

Best for: Traders who want gamma levels on their existing charting platform.

#5ConvexValue
~$99+ mo

Quant-grade options and gamma analytics with a data API — build your own GEX views and exposures. Powerful but technical. Analytics/data only.

Best for: Technical / quant users who want to build custom gamma views.

#6Tradytics
Free tier + paid

Bundles dealer/greek exposure (including GEX-by-strike) with options flow, dark pool and AI signals across a broad universe. Gamma is one feature among many. Analytics/signals only.

Best for: Traders who want gamma plus flow + AI in one cheap sub.

How to choose a GEX tool

Almost every GEX tool is analytics only — it shows you the dealer-positioning map and stops there. The two questions that narrow it down: how many tickers do you need (SpotGamma and Tradytics are broad; OptionsDepth, MenthorQ and NoVo are index-focused), and do you want to act on the map inside the same tool? On that second question NoVo is the outlier — it's the only one that turns the gamma read into a live streaming map. If you want the widest single-name coverage, SpotGamma leads; if you scalp the index ETFs off gamma, that's NoVo's lane. See the head-to-head: NoVo vs SpotGamma · NoVo vs MenthorQ, or the broader best 0DTE tools.

There is a third question worth asking any of them: where does the tape come from? Eighteen exchanges print US options and one consolidated tape unites them. Measured at the clearing house on 31 August 2026, Cboe’s venues were 98.18% of index option volume but 11.87% of equity volume — and ETFs like SPY, QQQ and IWM count as equity. So a single-exchange feed is very nearly the whole SPX tape and roughly a ninth of the SPY one, while the label on the dashboard reads the same either way. Dr. NoVo reads the consolidated chain. Ask whoever you buy from which they read — the long version is here.

If you want the same map on crypto

Glassnode draws gamma by strike on five Deribit coins, on plans that reach $999/mo. The NoVo Crypto Market Map covers seven options books at $79/mo, with the same dealer read as the equity map. See the Crypto Market Map →

The gamma map you can actually trade

NoVo maps live dealer gamma — net GEX, the flip line, the walls — on SPY, QQQ and IWM, and is the only tool here that publishes how often its own read was right. You decide every entry.

Trading crypto instead? The same dealer map is drawn on crypto in the NoVo Crypto Market Map — gamma by strike on the 7 cryptos with a real options book, funding per venue, up to five of them, 24-hour liquidation flow, and what a round trip actually costs at retail across all 90 coins. The closest comparables cover five coins. It is its own subscription at $79/mo, and the BTC and ETH gamma read is free.

FAQ

Common questions

What is a gamma exposure (GEX) tool?
A GEX tool estimates how options dealers are positioned in gamma and where they'll have to hedge. It surfaces net gamma exposure, the gamma-flip level (where dealer hedging switches from dampening to amplifying moves) and the call/put walls that tend to cap and support price. Traders use it to anticipate where the tape pins and where it breaks.
What is the best GEX / gamma tool?
SpotGamma is the established standard with the widest coverage across thousands of equities. For dealer gamma on the index ETFs specifically — and if you want to trade off the map rather than just read it — NoVo is purpose-built, and refreshes the map every 60 seconds where most of this list is on minutes or snapshots. OptionsDepth and MenthorQ are strong index-focused analytics alternatives, and Tradytics is the budget pick.
Is gamma exposure data free?
Some sites show delayed or aggregate GEX for free, but live, intraday, per-ticker dealer-gamma maps are almost always paid — the data and compute behind them aren't cheap. NoVo's free market-data page shows public volatility gauges; the live dealer map itself is part of the paid Analyst tier.
Does gamma exposure predict the market?
It's a tendency, not a crystal ball. Positive net GEX makes ranges more likely to hold and price to mean-revert; negative GEX makes moves more likely to extend. But news, momentum and a gamma squeeze can override it — GEX is context that improves your odds, not a guarantee.
