Why half-days matter for 0DTE

On an early-close day the cash session ends at 1:00 PM ET, not 4:00 — which means that day's 0DTE options settle at 1:00. If you're scalping same-day options, the whole clock compresses: theta, the final-hour gamma, and the close all arrive three hours early. Dealer-positioning tools that assume a 4:00 close can misread the tape after 1:00 on these days — NoVo's dealer map is half-day aware and freezes at the real close.

Regular market hours

The U.S. stock market's regular session is 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday, excluding the holidays above. Pre-market runs roughly 4:00–9:30 AM ET and after-hours 4:00–8:00 PM ET, but 0DTE index options trade in the regular session (and SPX until 4:15). When a holiday falls on a weekend, the exchange observes it on the nearest weekday — which is why Independence Day is observed Friday, July 3, 2026.

A dealer map that knows the market's hours

NoVo's dealer map is half-day aware — it settles the 0DTE read at the real 1:00 PM close on early-close days instead of running stale to 4:00. Live for SPY, QQQ and IWM.
