SPY · 0DTE dealer map

SPY gamma & expected move, today.

SPY is the deepest 0DTE market on the board — tightest spreads, most strikes, and the dealer positioning that moves first. Its gamma exposure tells you whether dealers are damping the tape or amplifying it; its walls tell you where price stalls and where it holds. Here's the public read — the live SPY dealer map is in Analyst.

About

Reading SPY gamma, in plain terms

How to read SPY 0DTE gamma today

SPY's gamma exposure (GEX) measures how much dealers have to hedge as SPY moves. When net GEX is positive, dealers buy dips and sell rips — moves get damped and price tends to pin toward the gamma flip. When it flips negative, dealers hedge with the move and volatility expands. The call wall is the strike with the heaviest dealer gamma above spot, where upside tends to stall; the put wall is the heaviest below, where downside tends to find a floor; the gamma flip is the line between the two regimes.

Why the level matters for a 0DTE scalp

On 0DTE, gamma is at its most violent — the same dealer hedging that pins SPY at midday can accelerate it into the close. Trading the level means knowing where the wall is before price gets there, and how much room the day has: the expected move is the ±1σ range the options market is pricing from at-the-money implied vol. NoVo maps net GEX, the flip, both walls and the expected-move band live and overlays them on the chart. The VIX gauge below is the public weather report; the live SPY map is inside NoVo Analyst, and The Journal explains the mechanics in depth.

FAQ

SPY dealer map — common questions

What is SPY gamma exposure (GEX)?
SPY gamma exposure measures how much dealers must hedge as SPY moves. Positive net GEX means dealers buy dips and sell rips, so moves get damped and price tends to pin; negative net GEX means they hedge in the direction of the move and volatility expands. NoVo Analyst shows SPY's live net GEX and the gamma-flip level where it crosses zero.
What is SPY's expected move today?
SPY's expected move is the ±1-standard-deviation range the options market is pricing for the session, derived from at-the-money implied volatility. NoVo draws today's expected-move band directly on the SPY chart and updates it live; the exact dollar range is in NoVo Analyst.
Where are SPY's dealer call and put walls?
The call wall is the strike with the heaviest positive dealer gamma above spot, where upside tends to stall; the put wall is the heaviest below, where downside tends to hold. Both move with order flow through the day — NoVo tracks SPY's live call wall, put wall and gamma flip in real time.
