“Do trading bots work” is asked hoping for a yes that means “free money.” The real answer is yes — at a specific job that isn't the one people imagine.

A trading bot is just software that places trades by rules. So “do they work?” depends entirely on what you're asking it to do.
What bots do work at
Bots excel at execution: reacting instantly, running the same rule identically every time, and never revenge-trading, hesitating, or chasing. If your losses come from discipline and emotion — and most retail losses do — a bot genuinely fixes that (FOMO and revenge trading). In that sense, yes, they work.
What bots don't do
A bot doesn't invent an edge. It faithfully executes whatever logic it's given — including a bad one, to your ruin. A bot running a losing strategy loses efficiently. The bot is a multiplier of the strategy behind it, nothing more (what makes AI trading profitable).
A bot is an amplifier, not an alchemist. Point it at an edge and it compounds discipline; point it at nonsense and it compounds losses — just faster.
How to judge one
Ignore the equity-curve screenshots. Ask: does it have hard risk limits? Is it non-custodial (your broker, your money)? Is it honest about drawdowns and risk? A bot that removes emotion and enforces discipline inside real guardrails is doing valuable, honest work (how to spot a scam, bot vs signal service).
