Strong trends don't give you comfortable pullbacks. The micro-pullback — a one- or two-bar pause — is often the only entry a fast SPY trend offers.

In a fast, powerful trend — a trend day, a momentum drive — price barely pulls back. Waiting for a deep, comfortable pullback means watching the move leave without you. The micro-pullback — a tiny one- or two-bar pause — is frequently the only entry a strong trend gives.
What it looks like
In a fast uptrend, price makes a run, then prints a single small pullback bar (or two) — a brief pause, a small red candle that doesn't give much back — before resuming higher. The shallowness is the signal: a trend so strong that buyers won't let it pull back is a trend with real conviction. A deep pullback in this context would actually be a warning (a change of character).
How to trade it
Entry: the break of the micro-pullback bar's high in an uptrend — price resuming after the tiny pause (buy calls). Target: trail with the trend; strong trends run. Stop: below the micro-pullback low — a tight stop, since the pullback was shallow. The tight stop and the trend's power give a strong risk/reward when it works.
In a fast trend, the shallow pullback is the entry, and a deep one is a warning. Don't wait for comfort a strong trend won't give.
The discipline and the caveat
The micro-pullback is a trend-only tool — it needs a genuinely strong, confirmed trend (ideally negative gamma / momentum regime). In chop, every tiny pause looks like a micro-pullback and none of them resume — you'll get chopped taking them. Confirm the trend first, keep entries in the trend's direction only, and accept that the tight stops mean some get run. It's how you participate in a fast move that won't pull back to a “nice” level.
