Charm exposure aggregates how much dealers must hedge as time passes — the positioning that drives the end-of-day pin and OPEX drift. It’s the aggregate view of charm across a book.
What it captures
Charm exposure tells analysts how dealers’ deltas will drift purely from time decay, and therefore where charm hedging flows will concentrate into the close. Large charm exposure near a heavy strike is the fingerprint of a likely pin — the positioning that magnetizes price into 4pm.
Why it matters
It’s strongest into expiration and on OPEX, when positioning is concentrated. Combined with gamma exposure (which sets damping vs amplifying) and vanna exposure (vol-driven), charm exposure completes the higher-order positioning picture that explains the close’s pinning behavior.
Charm exposure is the daily-pin forecast: it shows where time decay will drag dealer hedging as the session winds down.
What it means for a scalper
Like the other exposure aggregates, it’s advanced context rather than a trigger, but it explains why the close so often pins. The practical version is simply recognizing a forming EOD pin and the heavy strike behind it, which NoVo maps live. Structure, not signals.
NoVo reads the full tape and maps every dealer level live — the market intelligence no human can track by hand — then draws it on your chart as it moves, and tells you what it has seen this setup do before.
