SPY session chart — levels & structure
BOTTOM LINE: Geopolitical escalation and rising yields forced a late-day reversal below key intraday pivots, leaving the index vulnerable to further downward expansion. THE RECAP The session began with a brief morning recovery attempt that stalled below the opening range high of 748.71 and yesterday's high of 747.29. Macroeconomic pressures took control as Brent crude crossed $91 a barrel and the 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 4.56%, triggering an afternoon liquidation that erased intraday gains. The index ultimately closed in the red at $741.76, breaking below session VWAP and settling just above the previous day's low of 740.80. DEALER POSITIONING Dealers finished the session with a net GEX of -$2.3B, a negative regime where market makers must sell into weakness and buy into strength, amplifying intraday volatility. The critical threshold remains the Gamma Flip level at $746.57, below which the market remains structurally short gamma and prone to wider trading ranges. The broader public options book reflects a net-short delta of approximately -8.1M delta-equivalents, carrying a daily theta decay of $23.9M and a call-skewed volatility posture of +1.2M vega per volume point. TOMORROW'S SETUP The immediate path of least resistance remains lower while price trades below the Gamma Flip level. To stabilize and initiate a structural shift, buyers must reclaim and hold $746.57, which opens a path toward resistance at $747.50 and the call wall at $750.00. Conversely, a failure to defend the put wall at $740.00 will likely accelerate selling pressure toward structural gravity down at $738.16. Call/Put Walls = the largest call/put gamma strikes (pin / resistance above, support below). Expected move = the ±1σ range priced into at-the-money options. Public options data — analysis, not signals. FLOW DYNAMICS Charm — in a negative-gamma regime decay didn't pin, so moves could extend into the close rather than settle. Vanna — with dealers short gamma, a drop in vol would ease the amplification and let the tape settle. Second-order dealer flow — context, not a signal.
