SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk stated on Wednesday that the U.S. government and President Donald Trump were responsible for operational limits placed on Ukraine's military-grade Starlink network, CNBC reported. The comment followed accusations from Ukrainian officials that SpaceX had placed fresh constraints on the satellite communication service. Musk pushed back against that narrative directly, framing the policy guardrails as a federal directive rather than an internal corporate decision.
Defense and communications infrastructure has faced intense operational focus amid ongoing geopolitical friction. The Starlink dispute resurfaced just as First Squawk reported that normal Starlink internet service in Ukraine had been restored. Anthony Scaramucci also defended Musk's stance publicly, noting via Benzinga that policy inquiries regarding operational military limits belong with the administration.
While Musk points to Washington for satellite restrictions, the headline lands during an ugly morning across the broader tech tape. Equity futures have slipped, with Nasdaq front-month contracts down 1.08% to 29,858 as Wall Street digests higher yields and widening capital expenditure questions across tech hardware.
My dealer map shows QQQ trading at 721.19, sitting well below its 739.87 gamma flip in clear short gamma. That positioning leaves dealers selling into weakness rather than absorbing it, pushing the index closer to its 717 put wall. In short gamma, liquidity thins out and headline shocks trigger faster price expansion. The call wall sits at 750, leaving the upside ceiling distant while the options market prices an expected move of 1.64% with elevated 3.7 skew.
Musk's clarification removes direct corporate blame for satellite blackouts, but headline noise around mega-cap tech ecosystems offers little insulation when structural protection has already eroded. When dealers operate below the flip, tape sensitivity remains dialed up across the board, and execution remains the trader's click.
