Does NoVo replace a trading plan? No — it informs the plan you define. NoVo doesn't hand you a strategy and it doesn't place a single trade; it maps the dealer structure your setups live inside, so the plan you already have runs on better information. Understanding this clarifies what NoVo is for.
Why you still need a plan
A trading plan — your setups, your risk limits, your rules for entries and exits — is yours to define, because it encodes your edge, risk tolerance, and judgment. No tool can supply that; a plan handed to you by software wouldn't be yours and wouldn't fit you. NoVo assumes you're bringing the trading decisions, and gives you the structure to weigh them against (see structure, not signals) — the dealer map, recomputed live, and the scored record of what each setup has tended to do. The plan is the pilot's; NoVo is the instrument panel.
How NoVo informs your plan
Here's the value: most traders have a plan and break it — they skip the stop, over-size, revenge trade, exit emotionally — and half the time it starts with guessing at what the market is doing underneath. NoVo replaces the guessing with structure: the dealer map shows where the flip, the walls and the expected move actually sit, and its scored record shows what a setup like today's has resolved to before, with the sample size beside it. Your boundaries and your boundaries-first discipline are still yours to keep, at your own broker — NoVo makes sure the plan you're keeping is pointed at the market that's actually there.
The problem was never that traders lack a plan — it's that they trade it blind. NoVo doesn't write your plan; it shows you the structure you're trading it into.
The right mental model
Think of NoVo as the information layer under your trading plan: you bring the strategy, the discipline and every decision; it brings the dealer map, the history and the score. That's why it can't and won't replace a plan: a plan is what turns a read into a trade. If you don't have one yet, that's your first job (the journal can help you build it); NoVo's job is to make sure that, once you have it, you're trading it with the structure in view.
