Educational only, not financial advice. Broker features, options-approval requirements, 0DTE availability, and fees change and vary by account — verify current details on the broker’s own site. NoVo is independent and not affiliated with the brokers named.

Webull sits a notch above the minimalist apps: real charts, drawing tools and a desktop platform, still commission-free. If you scalp 0DTE SPY options off a chart you actually watch, it is one of the friendlier free venues to do it from.

Approval first

Options approval is a questionnaire inside the app (Settings → Account → Options Trading). Buying long calls and puts is the entry-level permission; check what your account was granted and that same-day expirations are enabled — does my broker offer 0DTE SPY covers the quirks.

Chain and strike, from the ticker page

Open SPY and switch to the Options tab; today’s expiration leads the list (SPY lists a 0DTE every weekday). Webull shows bid/ask and volume inline, so read the quote right in the chain, then pick a strike — a responsive near-the-money strike for a scalp, never a far-OTM lottery ticket.

Order, stop, and the paper account worth using

Place the order as a limit at one contract. Webull’s paper-trading mode is a genuinely useful place to rehearse the clicks before real money — the mechanics transfer. Live, set your stop the moment you are filled: decay is fast on 0DTE, a hard stop beats a mental one, and do not drift into the close.

Good charts tell you what price did. They still don’t tell you where the dealers are positioned while it does it.

The part no broker gives you

Webull gives you the candles; it does not give you the map underneath them. That’s where NoVo fits: it maps the dealer levels on SPY, QQQ and IWM and keeps a scored record of what that structure has tended to mean. It does not connect to Webull or any other broker — you place every trade yourself. Either way: start small, and remember levels are structure, not signals.
