Single Prints in Market Profile: Where Price Moved Too Fast
When price rips through a zone so fast it barely trades, market profile leaves a fingerprint — single prints. They mark unfinished business, and price tends to come back for it.

Single prints are areas in the market profile where price moved so quickly that only a single time-period traded at each level — thin, tall streaks in the profile. They're the market-profile version of low-volume nodes: zones price rejected as fair value and raced through, leaving almost no trading behind.
What single prints tell you
A single-print zone marks a fast, emotional move — a breakout or a flush where price found no acceptance. Two things follow. First, single prints act as support/resistance: their edges (the last accepted price before the fast move) often hold on a retest. Second, they represent unfinished auction — the market may return to “fill” the single prints later, trading through them more thoroughly to establish value it skipped.
How to trade them
Use single prints two ways. As targets: price returning toward a single-print zone tends to move through it quickly (like an LVN) toward the value area beyond, so target the far side, not the middle. As levels: the base of a single-print streak (where the fast move began) is a support/resistance line to watch for a reaction. A failed auction at a range extreme often leaves single prints on the reversal.
Single prints are where price panicked or rushed. It left value unfinished there — and the market often comes back to complete it.
The frame
Single prints are structure, not signals — they show where price moved too fast and where it may return, not when. Like low-volume nodes, they're most useful for anticipating speed and setting targets, and strongest when they align with a dealer level. Read them as part of the volume/profile terrain, alongside the high-volume shelves that anchor value.
