CoreWeave Rebound Confronts Tech Below Its Gamma Flip

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang signaled fresh demand for CoreWeave, but tech index dealers remain short gamma below the 736.81 flip.

The AI trade caught a bid off executive commentary, but the structural plumbing beneath index options tells a more disciplined story. Benzinga reported that CoreWeave shares snapped back after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang signaled support, noting that Nvidia receives new chip orders almost daily even as AI stocks faced an earlier slide. TipRanks added that Cantor called the recent dip on CoreWeave a mispricing, while Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives urged investors not to fear the volatility. The wire captures the headline relief, but I look at what that narrative does to dealer books. That is where the reality check sits. QQQ is pinned at 727.74, well below its gamma flip at 736.81. That gap puts tech dealers squarely in short gamma territory. When spot sits below the flip, market makers are not paid to be shock absorbers. Instead of leaning against moves to keep the tape calm, dealers are forced to sell into weakness and buy into strength to maintain delta neutrality. That amplifies intraday range rather than containing it. The index book reflects this tension. QQQ sits just above its 725 put wall with an expected move of plus or minus 1.37% and skew sitting at 3.4. Ahead of spot, the 735 call wall marks heavy overhead dealer positioning, well short of the zero-gamma line. SPY shows a similar posture, trading at 771.63 below its 776.44 gamma flip, with dealers short gamma between a 765 put wall and a 775 call wall. While headlines celebrate single-stock rebounds, the index books are not hedged for a smooth run. Crypto majors mirror this broader fragility under the surface. Bitcoin trades at 82,312.88, below its gamma flip at 83,376.30, holding negative net GEX of -25.04M. Across equities and digital assets, the tape is navigating short gamma regimes where dealer positioning widens ranges. The corporate news flow provided a catalyst, but until spot reclaims the flip, dealers will remain forced accelerators rather than shock absorbers. What you do with that tape is your click.
