Educational only, not financial advice. Broker features, options-approval requirements, 0DTE availability, and fees change and vary by account — verify current details on the broker’s own site. NoVo is independent and not affiliated with the brokers named.

E*TRADE’s options pedigree runs through Power E*TRADE, the platform it built from the OptionsHouse acquisition, and it shows. For a 0DTE SPY scalp, the risk graphics in the ticket itself are the standout feature.

Levels 1 through 4

E*TRADE grades options approval in numbered levels; buying long calls and puts is granted low on that ladder. Request it in account settings, then verify same-day expirations are live for you (does my broker offer 0DTE SPY).

Chain and strike in Power E*TRADE

Load SPY, open the chain, take today’s date (SPY lists a 0DTE every weekday). Power E*TRADE will preview an option’s risk profile before you commit — still read the quote the old way first, then pick a strike: responsive near-the-money strike for response, never the far-OTM lottery ticket.

Snapshot the trade, then cap it

Place the order at one contract. The ticket’s snapshot analysis shows your breakeven and decay curve — believe it, because decay is fast on same-day contracts. set your stop immediately (hard stop beats a mental one) and pre-decide the exit so you never drift into the close.

A risk graph shows what the trade does to you. The dealer map shows what the market is set up to do to the trade.

The part no broker gives you

The snapshot models your contract; it says nothing about the structure it is swimming in. That’s where NoVo fits: it maps the dealer levels on SPY, QQQ and IWM and keeps a scored record of what that structure has tended to mean. It does not connect to E*TRADE or any other broker — you place every trade yourself. Either way: start small, and remember levels are structure, not signals.
