Anything that publishes regularly faces the same pressure: the slot exists whether or not there is something to say. The failure mode is inflation — ordinary readings described as notable, small moves given narratives, structure found in noise because a paragraph needed filling.

The bar

A reading is worth publishing if it would change what a reader does. A volatility figure leaving the band it has occupied for weeks clears that. The same figure moving slightly within the band does not, however precisely it can be quoted.

The test is useful because it is about the reader rather than the writer. Plenty of things are interesting to compute and change nothing for anyone holding a position.

Quiet days are reportable

When the map is flat and nothing notable moved, the honest output says so. That is information: it tells a reader that hedging flow will not be driving the session and they should weight everything else more heavily.

A desk that never reports a quiet day is a desk whose busy days mean nothing, because there is no contrast.

Against the repeat

The second pressure is saying the same thing repeatedly. If the structure has not changed in three days, the third note has to either find a genuinely new angle or say plainly that the picture is unchanged.

Restating yesterday in fresh words is worse than silence, because it implies new information where there is none.

What gets left out

Anything we cannot show the reader. If a claim rests on something a reader cannot go and see, either the source gets named or the claim comes out. That removes a fair amount of otherwise interesting material, and it is the rule that most protects the rest.
