NoVo vs TipRanks: opinions about a stock, or a map of the book

TipRanks tells you what analysts, insiders and the crowd think of a stock. NoVo measures where the dealers are pinned on the index and reads it back to you. Different questions. Here is which one answers yours.

Both get filed under “AI and market intelligence”, which is why they get compared, and the resemblance ends at the label. TipRanks is an aggregator of opinions: analyst ratings weighted by each analyst’s own record, insider and hedge-fund filings, blogger and news sentiment, rolled into a Smart Score from one to ten. NoVo is a measurement of the option book: where dealers are positioned on SPY, QQQ and IWM this session, with a timestamp on every number. If you research single names for months, TipRanks is the tool. If you trade the index tape, it is not.

What TipRanks does well

A lot, for the money. Premium is about $30 a month, billed yearly, and it buys the analyst consensus on nearly every listed stock with each analyst ranked by their own record, the insider and hedge-fund filings, news and blogger sentiment, and the Smart Score that rolls all of it into one number. Their MCP server puts 60-plus read-only tools inside Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor on a free key. Robinhood has their CEO on stage at HOOD Summit ’26 for a reason: for a long-horizon thesis on a single name, it is a complete research desk for very little money.

Where NoVo is different

Three things, and the first is the whole difference.

A measurement instead of a score. A Smart Score is a model’s opinion about other people’s opinions. A dealer map is a count of what is open in the option book and where the hedging sits, taken at a stated time. When NoVo names a put wall, that is a position in the book, and the number carries when it was measured.

The index book, this session. TipRanks is built for the question should I own this stock. NoVo is built for what does the tape want to do before the close. SPY, QQQ and IWM on one book, 90 coins on the other, refreshed every 5 minutes on Trader Pro and streamed live on Max.

The analyst shows his work. Dr. NoVo answers off the live map and names which tools produced which number, so the answer can be checked rather than believed. The MCP is metered by the hour rather than the month. A free key gets 5,000 calls an hour here; TipRanks’ free key gets 50 calls a month.

On the price

They are cheaper, and it is not a fair fight, because they are not the same purchase. TipRanks Premium is about $30 a month, billed yearly. Trader Pro is $149 a month. One is a research subscription you read at night; the other is a live desk you keep open while you trade. A desk could reasonably run both: TipRanks for the single-name thesis, NoVo for the index tape while the thesis plays out.

Which should you pick

Researching single names over months, wanting the consensus, the filings and one score to sort by: TipRanks. Trading SPY, QQQ, IWM or crypto intraday and wanting the dealer book measured and read this session: NoVo. Running both is the honest answer for a lot of desks. See the Trader desk, the API and MCP, or the MCP servers worth knowing.

Comparison for information only, not financial advice. TipRanks’ features and MCP limits were checked against its own public pages in September 2026. Its plan prices render inside its app, so the dollar figures here come from published September 2026 reviews and may have changed; check tipranks.com/plans before buying. NoVo is our product.

FAQ

Common questions

Is NoVo a TipRanks alternative?
Only if the question you are asking is about the index book. TipRanks aggregates opinions about single stocks; NoVo measures dealer positioning on SPY, QQQ, IWM and the crypto book. Someone who wants analyst consensus and a Smart Score should buy TipRanks. Someone who trades the tape wants the map.
Which is cheaper?
TipRanks: about $30 a month for Premium, billed yearly, against $149 a month for Trader Pro. They are different purchases — a research subscription against a live trading desk.
Does TipRanks have an MCP server?
Yes, an official one, with 60-plus read-only tools for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. It is metered by the month: 50 calls on a free key, 100 on Premium, 200 on Ultimate, with paid API plans above that. Ours is metered by the hour, and 20 of the 33 tools need no key at all.
Does NoVo rate stocks or publish price targets?
No. NoVo does not score stocks, rate them or publish targets. It measures where dealers are positioned and reads that back. The one place the two overlap is congressional trades, which NoVo publishes free with the filing lag on every row.
Can I use both?
Yes, and a lot of desks should. TipRanks for the single-name thesis, NoVo for what the index tape is doing while the thesis plays out. Both sit in the same MCP client if you use one.
