A retail stock trader has long had a price, a chart and an options chain. A good deal else was out of reach: how much of an instrument existed today, whether it was being created or withdrawn, what it cost to hold a leveraged position. On the markets now arriving on a retail phone, much of that is published. Four readings are worth knowing.
Supply and flow
A Robinhood stock token is a contract. Its total supply is the number of tokens that exist on-chain. Anyone can read it at any moment. There is no waiting for a report. On 4 October 2026 the largest token was SPY, at about $22 million on-chain.
Supply rises when tokens are minted and falls when they are redeemed. The change in supply is the flow. It shows whether the on-chain float of a name is growing or shrinking. Shares on-chain explains what that can and cannot support. Robinhood also publishes each token’s mint and burn volume for the day.
Funding
A stock perp has funding, charged hourly. Positive funding means longs pay shorts. It is the running cost of holding one side, and it shows which side is paying to stay. On 4 October 2026 most large markets showed identical funding of about 5.5% a year. That is the formula’s resting value and carries no signal, so the reading is in the markets that sit far from it. Funding on a stock perp covers the detail.
Open interest
Open interest is the value of contracts outstanding. It shows how much money is committed to a market, which price alone does not. On 4 October 2026 the S&P 500 perp held about $349 million of it.
Public is not the same as easy
None of these numbers is hidden. They are scattered. Supply is on a chain. Quotes are with the issuer. Funding and open interest are with the perp venue. Most of it is not on an order screen.
The harder problem is history. Robinhood publishes today’s figures per token and no history. The perp venue serves price history and funding history. It does not serve open-interest history. A reading with no past is hard to judge, because nobody can say whether today’s number is high. The open interest history the venue does not serve is about that gap.
What these readings are not
They describe positioning and cost. They do not forecast. These markets are also small beside the cash market, so a large percentage change can be a small sum of money. Perps and stock tokens also have no dealer gamma, no flip and no walls. That reading belongs to the options market.
Where NoVo keeps it
The Stocks On-Chain tab on the Crypto Market Map shows all four in one place. NoVo’s collector has recorded every perp’s open interest and funding, and every token’s supply, on every pass since 4 October 2026. Averages are labeled with the span the record really covers.
