A scalper’s chart redraws on every trade. The dealer positioning map beside it updates on a cycle: every five minutes on Trader Pro, live on Trader Max. Reading two screens that run at different speeds is a small skill, and it is mostly a matter of knowing when the difference counts.

What moves fast and what moves slowly

Price moves fast. The levels move slower. Walls are built on open interest and on the day’s option volume, and they shift as that volume accumulates. The gamma flip is an estimate that is recomputed as the inputs change, as explained in how the gamma flip changes intraday. For long stretches a level reads the same from one cycle to the next.

So a one-minute chart against a five-minute map is a fast thing measured against a slow thing. For most of the session that is no conflict at all.

Where the difference counts

When price is far from every level, a reading a few minutes old gives the same answer as a fresh one. Price is above the flip and well below the call wall, and it was the same a cycle ago.

When price is sitting at a level, minutes matter. A cross of the flip changes the regime, which is the subject of price crossing the gamma flip mid-session. Net GEX just beyond a boundary can read differently on the next cycle. Near a level, the careful habit is to let a cycle complete before treating a cross as real.

Read the age

Every reading has an age. Before acting on a level, look at when it was last updated. A level read just before the next update is the oldest it will be. If the decision hinges on which side of a boundary price is on, that is the moment to wait for the refresh.

The chart’s timeframe is a separate question

Whether to watch one-minute or five-minute bars is a choice about noise, covered in one-minute versus five-minute charts. It is independent of the map’s cadence. A trader can read five-minute bars against a live map, or one-minute bars against a five-minute map.

Matching cadence to the way you trade

A style built on waiting at a level for several minutes of evidence asks little of the map’s speed. A style that acts within seconds of a touch asks more. The useful step is to know which style is being traded, and to know the age of every level being leaned on.

On either plan the map comes with Dr. NoVo’s written reads. Dr. NoVo is a markets SI, and the reads set the levels in context. NoVo shows the map and places no trades.
