QQQ Advances Toward Its 755 Call Wall

Big tech gains absorb shifting options flow as major index benchmarks hold comfortable long-gamma cushions above key flips.

The tech tape absorbed heavy positioning flow into Thursday's session as mega-cap names steered index books firmly into positive gamma territory. While headline attention centered on delivery metrics and AI infrastructure financing, the underlying options architecture kept dealer desks behaving as shock absorbers across the major indexes. Zacks reported traders are weighing whether to buy, hold, or fade Tesla stock following its third-quarter delivery beat, as Benzinga tracked vehicle production and delivery figures since 2019. Concurrently, The Motley Fool reported Tesla secured $30 billion in credit to support artificial intelligence expansion and capital expenditure. On the broader tech front, TipRanks noted Invesco QQQ Trust ETF rose during the session, citing Cboe options data that showed mixed sentiment in both Microsoft and Amazon as shares gained 0.42% and 0.89% respectively. That underlying lift directly translated onto our equity screens. QQQ traded at 749.58, firmly above its gamma flip at 748.08, leaving dealers positioned in long gamma with an expected move of plus or minus 0.67%. Its call wall sits at 755 with a lower put wall anchored down at 736. When spot trades above the zero-gamma line, dealer hedging tends to cushion intraday moves rather than amplify them, buying intraday weakness and offloading rallies into overhead structure. SPY mirrored the constructive framework, logging 769.64 against a gamma flip of 768.19. That keeps dealers long gamma between the 764 put wall and the 770 call wall, facing an intraday expected move of plus or minus 0.44%. The broader index tape remains contained inside these bands, with front-month VIX sliding 6.59% to 15.31 to reflect the compression across index volatility. The dynamic stands in stark contrast to digital asset markets, where major crypto contracts continue to sit under negative gamma regimes. Bitcoin printed 84533.28 on our desk with a net gamma reading of -30502547.21, well below its 85873.91 flip line. That keeps dealer positioning in crypto prone to pressing moves rather than dampening them, while equity indexes enjoy the structural buffer of dealer absorption heading toward overhead strike walls.
