United States safety regulators are weighing a formal safety probe into Tesla robotaxis following allegations that the autonomous vehicles have been speeding through school zones, Benzinga reported.
The development injects sudden regulatory friction directly into Tesla's autonomous transport push, landing at a moment when equity positioning across big-cap tech has already lost its defensive padding. On our tape, Nasdaq futures sit down 0.66% at 30,904, while broader benchmark yields remain elevated at 5.24%.
That drag shows up immediately in the dealer structure. While SPY continues to grind in positive territory at 777.98 with dealers positioned in long gamma above its 773.61 flip, the tech-heavy QQQ has dropped cleanly onto the fragile side of its ledger. Spot QQQ is printing 746.26, well below its gamma flip at 757.46, locking dealers into a negative gamma regime. When dealers sit short gamma, they no longer act as market shock absorbers. Instead of stepping in to buy dips, dealer hedging requires selling into weakness, magnifying sharp moves rather than dampening them.
QQQ now faces an immediate downside boundary at its 742 put wall, carrying an intraday expected move of ±1.16% and a heavy put skew of 1.6. Any escalation from transport regulators regarding Tesla's fleet directly tests whether that 742 shelf can absorb unhedged downside flow, or whether forced dealer delta sales push tech toward the wider volatility corridor.
