Bitcoin pushed back through $83,000 early Tuesday, separating itself from softer tech futures and shifting the dealer book back onto the shock-absorbing side of the tape. CoinDesk and The Block reported that an on-chain wallet dormant since the March 2020 crash moved roughly $378 million in BTC across multiple transactions. CoinDesk also noted that spot rebounded above $83,000 while decoupling from retreating Nasdaq futures, which were off 0.45% on the morning session.
The transfer lands right as the structural picture on the options book flipped. At 83,773, Bitcoin sits comfortably above its gamma flip at 83,124, with net GEX positive at 4,574,891. That regime matters because dealers holding long gamma hedge by buying dips and selling rallies. Instead of accelerating downside moves, positioning works as a buffer, with max pain for the open book clustering down at 83,000.
That stabilization stands out against the broader tech landscape. Across equities, QQQ remains mired in short gamma at 742.76, sitting well below its 752.31 flip with a 740 put wall absorbing downside pressure. While equity tech books are hedged to press moves, Bitcoin's tape has dealers actively dampening volatility as spot trades above its primary zero-gamma line.
Among the other majors, Ethereum holds a similar structure at 2,527.99, staying above its 2,511.38 flip with positive net GEX of 1,054,142 and max pain at 2,520. Solana clings to the edge at 108.26 against a 108.09 flip, while Avalanche trades in negative gamma at 10.40, pinned beneath its 10.62 flip. As long as Bitcoin keeps spot above 83,124, dealers are forced to absorb intraday momentum rather than chase it.
