Broadcom has agreed to back up to $42 billion in convertible debt for artificial intelligence developer Anthropic, Bloomberg News reported, anchoring a wider $60 billion syndicated compute facility arranged by major Wall Street banks. Filings cited by Reuters show the arrangement carries a potential backstop liability of up to $29 billion for Broadcom, against trailing four-quarter free cash flow of $39.41 billion.
The deal represents one of the largest vendor-financing commitments disclosed in the semiconductor sector to date, tying hardware revenue directly to the capital structures of foundation-model developers. Wall Street lenders are syndicating the remaining balance of the facility to finance dedicated server clusters.
Across the index option books, the headline lands on a market pinned directly beneath overhead dealer supply. QQQ sits at 753.50, just under its 755 call wall, operating firmly in positive gamma territory with its flip down at 744.20. In positive gamma regimes, dealer inventory acts as a natural dampener against intraday momentum, forcing market makers to sell into underlying rallies and buy dips. With the expected daily move priced at plus or minus 1.1% and skew standing at 2.6, dealer hedging flows have kept spot compressed against the upper bound of the range.
On the broad tape, SPY trades at 773.00, similarly hemmed in between its 769 put wall and 775 call wall, with its zero-gamma flip marked lower at 764.84. As long as tech benchmarks remain parked below these major overhead call concentrations, dealer rebalancing leans against follow-through, absorbing headline-driven impulse until either call open interest rolls higher or spot breaks through the barrier. What happens next depends on execution, but the positioning structure remains clear.
