SPY Pins Its 775 Call Wall as Tech Rallies

SPY spot climbs to 774.47, boxing price directly under the session call wall while dealers sit in long gamma.

The tape is pushing straight into overhead dealer resistance. SPY trades at 774.44, up 0.62% on the day, with spot hitting 774.47 against a major call wall at 775. When price hugs the ceiling like this, the entire character of intraday action shifts depending on which side of the gamma fence dealers occupy. Here, the book sits in long gamma across every major index. SPY's gamma flip sits down at 765.19, with the put wall at 770. That puts spot nearly ten points above the zero-gamma line. In positive gamma, dealers act as an explicit brake on the tape. They buy dips and sell into strength to remain delta neutral, bleeding momentum out of breakout attempts. Unless fresh volume overwhelms the book, pinning into the 775 strike is the natural gravitational path. Tech is seeing the exact same ceiling behaviour. QQQ is trading at 754.43 against a 755 call wall, with its flip sitting down at 744.31 and a 740 put wall below. TipRanks noted semiconductor momentum pushing names like Nvidia to fresh records, with analysts raising price targets across the board, but the options structure reflects the ceiling. QQQ carries an expected move of plus or minus 0.91%, yet upside expansion runs into heavy dealer supply right at 755. Small caps are not behaving any differently. IWM trades at 283.45, parked right under its 284 call wall with its flip down at 276.07 and the put wall at 278. Across the board, spot is running into call walls that dealers are actively hedging against. Over in crypto, dealer books are showing the opposite structural environment. Bitcoin trades at 85,098, sitting below its gamma flip of 86,583 with net GEX negative at negative 28.2 million. Ethereum sits below its 2,712.45 flip at 2,683.71, also in short gamma. While equity dealers are dampening moves beneath call walls, crypto positioning is built to press moves wider. For SPY, the expected move today is plus or minus 0.71%. With spot squeezed between 774.47 and the 775 wall, the market has compressed itself into dealer supply. What happens next depends on whether takers can force dealers through that wall, or if the inventory simply keeps price boxed in.
