The White House has asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as U.S. ambassador to Greece, according to The Wall Street Journal. The request followed reporting by the Journal that Guilfoyle solicited $100,000 from a Trump donor in the run-up to her confirmation hearing last year.
White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia confirmed the administration's decision, Bloomberg reported, stating that the ambassador had been asked to step down following allegations of unethical conduct. The move marks an abrupt departure for the diplomatic post in Athens, landing as broader equity markets digest a quiet, choppy tape across index books.
While political shakeups rarely move equity gamma directly, the broader macro backdrop remains fragile. On our own tape, the 10-year Treasury yield is sitting near 5.22%, down 0.4% on the session, while the dollar index trades at 102.28. The equity desks remain split in structure rather than moving in lockstep.
On the equity book right now, SPY sits at 777.46 in long gamma, hovering between its put wall at 777 and call wall at 779, with an expected move of plus or minus 0.61%. The zero-gamma flip rests below at 774.33, keeping dealers in a shock-absorber posture where they lean against intraday pushes. QQQ tells the opposite structural story: trading at 742.50, tech remains trapped in short gamma beneath its 754.06 flip, anchored near a 740 put wall where dealers must press moves rather than cushion them.
