Futures are pushing higher heading into the opening bell following headlines from Benzinga that Iran offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Broad headline risk continues to cross the wire, with Benzinga also covering commentary from Elon Musk regarding chip deployment targets for SpaceXAI. For option market structure, headline momentum operates against clear technical markers across equity indexes.
In SPY, spot was measured at 769.53, sitting comfortably in long gamma territory above the 763.49 flip level. That alignment keeps market makers in a stabilizing posture, where structural flows tend to absorb intraday swings rather than expand them. Overhead, the 775 call wall marks upper resistance, while the 760 put wall defines lower support within a calculated expected move of plus or minus 1.42 percent.
QQQ reflects a tighter arrangement. Spot sat at 744.32, holding just above its gamma flip at 742.90. With the call wall overhead at 746 and the put wall at 736, dealer hedging flows remain dampening as long as spot retains its cushion above 742.90. The priced expected move for QQQ stands at plus or minus 1.11 percent.
IWM presents a distinctly different setup. Spot was measured at 282.42, which places the index below its 282.52 flip level in short gamma territory. In a short gamma regime, dealer hedging shifts from absorbing price moves to accelerating them as market makers buy strength and sell weakness. IWM options price an expected move of plus or minus 1.33 percent, flanked by a 280 put wall and a 287 call wall.
While headline streams push early direction, structural regimes dictate how the tape handles the volume at the bell. SPY and QQQ carry long gamma dampening into the open, while IWM enters the session with positioning that expands movement around its 282.52 flip level.
