The cash session wrapped with equity dealers firmly in the driver seat, absorbing intraday moves exactly as positioned. SPY closed at 774.74, up 0.66%, after spending the afternoon leaning directly into its 775 call wall. With spot holding well above the 768.86 gamma flip and inside an expected move of plus or minus 0.61%, the tape stayed structurally insulated. When dealers sit in positive gamma, they sell rips and buy dips, dampening volatility and keeping the tape contained.
QQQ followed the same playbook, finishing at 756.13 against a 750.07 flip and a 760 call wall. The Wall Street Journal reported that the Nasdaq was poised to hit fresh highs even as the 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.31%. Tech absorbed that pressure cleanly. TipRanks noted mixed options sentiment around Nvidia during the day, yet the broader index never threatened its 740 put wall, coasting within its expected move of plus or minus 0.97%.
Across the hall, the crypto desk tells a very different story. Benzinga reported that major tokens traded flat as the dollar index reached 102.15, while Decrypt noted the SEC cleared 3x leveraged Bitcoin and Ethereum funds for trading. Yet beneath that news flow, dealer structure remains defensive. Bitcoin sits at 85,741, pinned below its 86,444.84 flip in short gamma territory with net GEX negative by roughly 28.9 million. 24/7 Wall St. pointed out stacked short sellers overhead, and our book reflects that caution, with max pain marking 85,750.
Ethereum mirrors that overhang, hovering at 2,709.55 against a 2,713.68 flip and negative 4.05 million net GEX. Solana also remains sub-flip at 120.27 with its pivot at 120.51. When crypto dealers sit short gamma, any pocket of forced flow accelerates moves rather than padding them. Equities get to enter tomorrow with deep long-gamma shock absorbers at 768.86 on SPY and 750.07 on QQQ; crypto remains unhedged, sitting under its ceilings where downside drift can slip faster than headline traders anticipate.
