China's central authorities have directed the construction of a unified national blockchain network, anchoring the distributed-ledger technology into the core framework of the country's economic strategy. The mandate, jointly issued by the Communist Party of China and the State Council, establishes a top-level architectural blueprint designed to standardize and centralize blockchain infrastructure across national industry and governance.
Cointelegraph and Watcher Guru reported the directive, noting that the decree establishes high-level coordination for distributed ledger deployment across supply chains, domestic financial clearing, and cross-border digital transactions. While Beijing banned speculative cryptocurrency trading and mining operations in 2021, the government has continually funded and prioritized sovereign, non-cryptocurrency blockchain rails, including the state-backed Blockchain-based Service Network (BSN) and the digital yuan (e-CNY).
The mandate marks an acceleration in Beijing's bid to separate underlying ledger infrastructure from decentralized token economies. By placing the development of a national ledger under direct state administration, Chinese economic planners are preparing institutional digital infrastructure meant to bypass foreign payment networks and modernize corporate settlement without yielding regulatory control. The directive arrives as regional financial hubs adjust to tighter institutional rules; data from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, reported by Cointelegraph, showed local brokers' crypto trading commissions dropped 13.5% to HK$99.3 million during the first half of 2026, even as broader brokerage profits surged 21%.
Across global liquid books, digital assets traded quietly through the announcement. Bitcoin hovered near $82,889, holding within a positive net gamma regime against its $82,342 flip, with dealers hedged to dampen volatility rather than accelerate directional swings. What Beijing has authorized is not an opening for public tokens or speculative flows, but a coordinated industrial apparatus to assert domestic technical standards over state-approved commerce.
