Bitcoin Clears $83,600 as Dealers Reclaim Long Gamma Cushion
Spot sits above the $83,178 flip into the morning cut, keeping market makers in position to absorb dips rather than accelerate them.

The wire spent the early morning parsing relief rallies and ETF flow narratives. CoinDesk reported that Bitcoin shrugged off recent exchange-traded fund outflows to climb past $84,000 as crude softened, while Investing.com flagged spot wedging tightly between near-term support and resistance around $84,175. Headlines can frame that as shifting macro sentiment, but the mechanics that actually govern the order book sit in the dealer inventory.
On my read, Bitcoin is trading at 83,628.38, holding spot cleanly above its 83,177.86 gamma flip. Net GEX registers positive at 4.37 million, with max pain resting at 83,250. Sitting above the flip changes the behavior of the tape. In positive gamma, dealers are required to trade against the prevailing move—buying down-ticks and selling rallies to keep inventory balanced. Instead of pressing directional momentum, market makers act as a volatility buffer, keeping price action compressed.
The dynamic extends across the broader book. Ethereum trades at 2,557.66 with net GEX at 1.94 million, anchored safely above its 2,534.46 flip and 2,525 max pain. Solana mirrors that composure at 112.04 against a 110.47 flip and 112 max pain, backed by 56,010 in net GEX. Across the major options books, desks entered the morning session structurally hedged to dampen swings rather than feed them.
The notable divergence on the board is Avalanche. While spot gained 6.84% over 24 hours to reach 11.03, net GEX sits negative at -2,485.08, even with spot above the 9.11 flip line. That negative posture leaves dealers short gamma, meaning any abrupt pullback forces selling into weakness rather than absorbing it. Outside the majors, speculative flow rotates quickly—altcoins without options books like W surged 72.27% to 0.0298, though pure spot momentum lacks the structural gravity that an active options book exerts.
For Bitcoin, holding north of 83,178 keeps the dampening regime intact into the session. If spot slips beneath that mark, dealers flip from market absorbers to directional amplifiers. What traders decide to do with that boundary is entirely their click.
