OpenAI discovered a covert recording device planted inside one of its offices and has referred the incident to federal law enforcement, according to wire reports from Deltaone and First Squawk on Tuesday. The company disclosed that it used its own artificial intelligence models to inspect the device, trace its origins, and identify a specific employee connected to the breach. OpenAI confirmed the worker has been fired.
The company stated that it currently sees no evidence of model weights, internal source code, or customer records being accessed or exfiltrated. The matter is now in the hands of the FBI, marking a rare corporate espionage escalation involving a top-tier artificial intelligence lab.
While corporate intrigue plays out in the headlines, broader technology risk remains tightly defined on the dealer tape. The tech proxy QQQ sits at 743.53, stranded well below its gamma flip at 758.97. That negative territory keeps dealers positioned to accelerate directional moves rather than absorb them, amplifying any intraday headline shocks.
Downside protection on tech is closely bracketed, with QQQ testing space just above its 740 put wall, while the 750 call wall caps the topside. Until tech spot reclaims that 758.97 flip, headline-driven intraday swings are being pushed rather than buffered by market makers.
